How to Skim a Research Paper

  1. Read the abstract
  2. Read the first paragraph of the introduction
  3. Read the last paragraph of the introduction
  4. Read the first paragraph of the conclusion, or the whole thing if it’s short.
  5. Look at the figures and read the captions.
